    About MPT

Five decades of hosting MP Tourism — The Heart of India — from roadside rest houses to 65 hotels and resorts from the Narmada valley to the tiger forests of Bandhavgarh and Kanha.

    Editor's NoteSince 1975

A short history of Madhya Pradesh hospitality.

Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation was incorporated in 1975 by the Government of Madhya Pradesh as the commercial arm of the state's tourism department. What began as roadside rest houses has grown into 38 owned resorts — sea-facing cottages at Hanuwantiya and Maheshwar, colonial rooms in Pachmarhi, monsoon retreats at Patalkot and Tawa, heritage stays at Khajuraho and Orchha, jungle lodges at Bandhavgarh, Pench and Panna, and pilgrim accommodation at Ujjain.

Every MPT resort is staffed by locals, sourced from nearby farmers and fishermen, and serves regional Madhya Pradesh cuisine — Malwa fish thali on the coast, Varhadi and Saoji inland. Direct bookings on this site always receive the government tariff, with no channel mark-ups.

This journal is our guide to MP Tourism — The Heart of India — the full MPT portfolio of resorts, offers and experiences, bookable direct.
